Screensavers
When ScreenSavers first came out they presented a simple method of making sure your PC monitor did not get "Burn In" due to the same image being displayed for a long period of time. Since then technology has moved on and the chances of the dreaded "Burn In" have become less and less. However, we have all grown to love our screensavers and now we just use them to enhance our PCs. Of course todays screensavers are a lot better than those of days gone by, often incorporating interaction, sound and various other stuff.
